Shrinking Fibroids Naturally-What Your Doctor May Not Tell YouIf natural treatment works so well, many women wonder why their doctors don't recommend shrinking fibroids naturally as an alternative to the conventional treatment which is so often given. Indeed, sometimes women are not even offered conventional treatment and are told to use a "watchful waiting" approach. This can make some women skeptical about trying natural methods, but an article I read recently which had been written by a well-respected doctor who held the post of Fellow, in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists which went some way towards explaining the reluctance. This particular doctor undertook a full year to study fibroids and he subsequently published a number of papers with useful insights. In one study, he considered himself why doctors are reluctant to recommend that women try alternative treatments to shrink fibroids and to treat the associated symptoms. I have paraphrased his thoughts and findings below (simply because I have not sought his express permission to use his exact quotes). Natural Treatment Can Shrink Fibroids"The everyday pressures in healthcare leave many doctors with little or no incentive or time to learn about new medical developments and they have even less time available to explain treatment alternatives to patients. For women who require treatment for their fibroids, many different options do indeed exist" He then went on to imply that as fibroids can be a complicated issue, many doctors simply resort to the most straightforward option, such as recommending "watchful waiting" or, in other cases, offering drugs such as Lupron on a temporary basis. The same doctor also noted that the studies into natural treatments which had been conducted were too small to draw firm conclusions from. However, the same doctor confirmed that he had worked with an alternative practitioner and that the results were both encouraging and impressive, with over 95% of women showing a significant reduction in heavy bleeding and cramping and a large number of these women showing a decrease in the size of their fibroids-all through using natural treatments for shrinking fibroids. I personally believe that there are occasions where surgery and drug treatment is indeed the right option. However, in situations where treatment is not considered "urgent" (and fibroid treatment rarely is urgent) then I always feel a little uncomfortable using a "watchful waiting" approach as the underlying causes have not been dealt with, meaning that further growth may well be happening. As you are probably already aware, drug treatment, hormonal therapies and surgery all carry side effects and/or risks. If you are thinking about any of these options for shrinking your fibroids and your situation is non-urgent, you might want to consider trying natural treatments, including dietary and lifestyle changes as well as tried and tested complementary therapies first. |
